The Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted students visit Cellular Reprogamming Laboratory

On the morning, 30/12/2022, students from Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted have a trip to visit International University. On this trip, they also visit Cellular Reprogramming Laboratory – School of Biotechnology– International University – VNU HCM. Assoc. Prof Nguyen Van Thuan and CRL members introduce high school students to high techniques in Biotechnology such as Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer (SCNT), Intra-Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI), Biopsy 8-cell mouse embryos, Blastocyst injection …

In this program, high students learn and understand the process of embryo production and development in in-vitro system. This is the first they see how to use a manipulator system to cut head mouse sperm and injection them to mature mouse oocytes for ICSI technique or SCNT technique. Assoc. Prof Nguyen Van Thuan explains deeply about some applications of cloning animal techniques in the future such as the preservation of dangered and endangered animals,  human therapy, and pharming means using animals to produce modified hormones for human therapy. The high schools also are known for some future careers for biotechnology students after graduation.
